Check-In Day!

Hi again!

Happy to hear that I completed my what turned into a 16 hour drive, and survived 4 long walking days at Disney and then 3 more at Universal! I was so tired! BUT to the Disney stuff!

My check in was yesterday and I was scheduled for 10-11am! I didn't want to wait that long AT ALL, but I heard they have gotten more strict and will ONLY let you in for you scheduled time (Which is totally true, so don't try it!). But when I got there a met up with two of my roommates Sara and Hannah and we went through the line together! It actually seemed to go by pretty quickly because you're so excited and too busy talking to everyone! The first table you stop at is your role and drum roll please....I'm in entertainment...which I already knew, helpful. :) BUT then we found out housing and I got all the perfect roommates and am living in Patterson Court (The newest apartment complex and the one we wanted!) After that we received The Program Guide AKA the Bible, and took a photo for out housing ID. THEY ARE NOT HAPPY IF YOU FORGET IT...HAPPENED TO ME)

So after that they tell you your schedule for casting, housing meeting, and if you need to take a drug test when that will be. I actually got schedule for casting the next day. So I will be catching a bus around noon today to head to casting and I will let you know how that goes!

So I got all moved into my place and we love it! I'm happy we're living with 6 girls because you're never alone :) and the rooms are actually decent and closets and bathrooms here are totally good!

Here's a few pictures from my first day!

Have a Magical day!

A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes...

Dreams are a funny thing...People say "It's a wish your heart makes," but that can't always be true? I wanna learn about REAL dreams, and aspirations of what people want in their life. So tell me.. whats your dream?

My dream is something easy you could imagine and it was to work at Walt Disney World. BUT this was only a short term goal, a long term goal of mine is to fight for everything I want and to make something magical and huge out of my life. I, at the age of 22, have learned how it feels to really want and work for something. When I was a freshman in high school I tried our for out cheer team. I kind of goofed around acted like I had known what I was doing and went to private sessions for weeks to get my back hand spring on a regular mat. I was too scared, I didn't try hard enough, and I thought I did well in my try-out spite the fact that I didn't throw any tumbling. Incorrect statement. I did not make the team and was devastated. I re-tried out my senior year, all or nothing baby. This time there was no messing around I wanted this and I was gonna get it. I got my back handspring flawlessly on the mat through it for try-outs and gave those judges one hell of a show. Say hello to who was then finally a varsity cheerleader [and math club president...I had a funny high school experience].

Moment number 1 realizing what a dream is: It was my dream to become a high school cheerleader and I didn't want to be the only thing that stood in my own way.

You are your worst enemy.

Moment number 2 realizing what a dream is: My second chance toward a huge dream of mine was Disney. I constantly doubted myself through this whole process, and there was no reason to. I went through my interview totally nervous, but answered every question from the heart and honestly. I got accepted. Next was entertainment auditions. I was finally picking up that I'm me and that's all I needed to be. I need to work my butt off and not be my worst enemy and just be myself to get me somewhere I need to go! I had the time of my life at auditions. It was like it was a place FOR ME, and I was able to make this happen by working super hard and being myself.

I'm sorry for the sob story or if this isn't up-beat but it was nice for me to see who I was and to learn how to fight for something I believe in and that if anyone wants to go for entertainment at Walt Disney World should never be afraid and to just go for everything you want. And most importantly I learned it's true....

All you need is Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust....and all of your dreams will come true!

Have a Magical Day!

Hello Disney addicts, long time no magic. I'm sorry for my slight absence, but haven't had too much to discus. I have been my typical self by procrastinating and haven't started packing or anything else to get ready for my trip. BUT that all changed when I finally received my NEW HIRE PAPER WORK. Yes paperwork is not something to get that excited about and it was pretty tedious but I mean come on its DISNEY PAPER WORK. I'm sure you will be able to match my excitement when you get your new hire paper work some day and you will have one magical day!

So to focus on that for a brief moment. This is something that doesn't work on google chrome (which sucks because its all I use) and you need to be completely updated on your adobe. I actually completed mine at work because you know they're always up to date on their stuff ;). So basically it's a bunch of information you will have to sign, and by sign I mean use your mouse to paint your name, and click a button for each document to submit it. When you have gone through and briefly read each one, BUT SAVED ALL TO READ LATER, the last one you submit and finish nothing happens. Its weird and will make you believe you haven't done everything, but don't worry you did :)

The things you will be signing are things about your direct deposit your costuming, and the general rules you have to abide by to work for The Mouse.

Stay tuned for what you've all been waiting for THE PACKING list.

I'm never gonna wanna come home!

Making the switch

I'm currently just to excited about Disney, and am well aware that it's all I'm going to talk about for the next....7 months...and probably longer so I'm making the leap.

For the Temporary 7 months

I also think that my trafficking...if I get any at all (who wants to hear about my normal life) is because of my posts on Dinsey.

So I'm hoping that I can answer all questions people have when looking forward to their Disney College Program!

Spread the word and feel free to ask anything you would like, because I know it's nerve racking waiting for a Disney answer and trying to get into Disney Entertainment!! Please follow by email to the right, or subscribe to posts or SHARE it since the most exciting part of my journey is soon to begin!

4th of July Fun!

So one crazy holiday weekend. My family and I did our usual, cut out a day early from work and head to the lake.  ( Much better attire than work attire)

I love going to the lake because it's just so relaxing and a great time to catch up on some reading. But, this weekend it was a tad different...and by different I mean we spend a lot of our "in the house time" having a disney movie marathon!

Started with a little 101 and Dalmatians, which is so fantastic! I made a full list you can see here of all disney movies!

I then did what I do best by laying out, re-reading a book that I love, eating healthy and non healthy at the same time.

And of course while I was doing my relaxing my parents and sister had to spend 6 hours with Millie at the vet because she had a cut that was infected...meet our new satellite dish, she's great!

Then we had some great times with fireworks with the occasional mess up that blew up on the ground!

The Boat parade where you get free candy!

Next night was the great Little Mermaid which is my favorite!

All together I had a fantastic Disney and relaxation filled weekend with my family and am so happy I get so spend this much time with my family before my program at Disney in August!!

ONLY 35 DAYS TILL MY CHECK-IN DAY!!!!

Getting accepted to DCP

So, I know I read about a million blogs on how the interviewing process worked when applying for the Disney College Program and that's now how I will begin mine. I'm currently a senior at Texas A&M University, and waited to apply for the DCP my last semester I could. My parents viewed it as "hurting my career in the real world" if I would have applied to do it the semester after I graduated. This could easily be true, but I guess everything happens for a reason.

Why I waited till my last semester:
Well for starters I love my school and like to be involved in everything I can. Also, I'm in a sorority...actually that's pretty much the main reason. I joined a sorority my sophomore year in college, and loved every minute of it. I was quick to jump into every position I could till I became our Vice President of Programming which lasted till the middle of my senior year. Once that was over is when I decided to finally persue my dreams of working at Walt Disney World.

Perks of waiting:
Now looking back on it I am happy I waited for a couple of reasons (these could all be different for you). I have made some amazing friends here at school and because I will be staying in college another semester when all my friends are graduating I was able to spend all 4 of my amazing years here with my friends and NEVER missing a beat. (hehe also now they're all moving home and getting big kid jobs...and I'm over here moving to Disney World). So reason number 2, I found it easier with the major I am in (which by the way has nothing to do with anything Disney so no that does not effect your chances) to have finished all my major classes and classes that fed off of each other before leaving, and having my easy classes left when I returned.

Downfalls of waiting:
Short and sweet: 1. you might not get in your first try, and if you waited that might be your only chance to attempt to work at such a magical place. 2. You don't get the chance to do it again!

Applying for the Program:
I was super prepared to apply for DCP. (I was applying for the Fall program so I applied in the spring). I knew they said applications would come out in early February, so once Feb hit I checked daily. When it was released (feb 8th I believe) I felt like I had to of been one of the first 100 people to apply!

Warning: I will tell you all about my experience but I will not tell you what I was asked, because I believe the Disney process works, and I would never want someone who shouldn't be accepted just know all right right answers and its not what they really believe.

The first steps to applying are easy, they're all online based, and Disney will tell you if your personality and morals align with theirs. Once you have made it past the first 2 online interviews you may then get offered the phone interview. I can't even begin to describe how nervous I was. You will know what day and time they are gonna call but they do tell you they could call 15 minutes early to 15 minutes late. In my case she called right one time and it lasted about 20 minutes. I spent the 20 minutes prior to my interview locked in my room (where it would be quiet for my interview) and just listened to Disney Pandora to get me in the zone. I'm not gonna lie even while we were talking I was still nervous but I had no reason to be. My interviewer was the nicest person ever and we had some laughs and it was honestly easy. MAIN ADVICE: Remember your interviewers name, and answer all questions honestly. They want to know your true opinion and want to know the real you! So make sure you do that! They will ask you about what you want to do and this is super important! I was one of those people who thought I do not care what I'm doing I just wanna work at Disney World. Which is awesome, but you still need to know what you would MOST want to do and what you want to fight for! And be ready you're going to be doing it for a long time!!

The After Math:
When you complete your phone interview they will tell you it will take 2-3 weeks to make a decision. This was the most dreadful weeks of my life. They literally just drug on! I checked daily, even though I knew the email would pop up in my phone whenever I got it. BUT I COULDN'T WAIT. Now the part that stinks I got my email of acceptance the last day of the time period they gave me, and while I was taking a nap! I was in the car and seriously screamed I was so happy.

Sorry if this isn't that helpful but this was my experience and I'm happy for it! feel free to ask questions!

Girl Meets Disney

My very first Disney post..this will be interesting...

I was accepted into the Disney College Program back in May and have been too excited to even put into words. Working for Disney has been my dream since I was little. I have been numerous times and am worried that when I leave I might not want to come back! I will be enjoying the role of entertainment while I'm there and will be taking part in this role from August 2014- January 2015!

This blog will be my way of explaining to people what to expect when attending the DCP and also a way for my family to keep in touch with me and know whats going on in my life.

I have already created my packing list, a bucket list, chosen my room mates, and where we would like to live.

Own little Disney facts about me

I have been a total of 10 times, and I live in Texas.
I chose to spend my College senior spring break in Disney World with some great friends.
All I really care to do is keep the dream and magic of Disney alive, because what Walt Disney worked to hard to create is what made my childhood as amazing as it was. I can not wait to make a ton of MAGICAL MOMENTS for every other little kid who has the opportunity to come to Disney World.

My Favorite Shirt:

I got this shirt made for me for my Disney College Program from TheBee's Knees TX you should check them out and get yourself one made!!!  https://www.facebook.com/TheBeesKneesTX

Cleaning Out My Room

So, cleaning out my room...well, not just my room, but my brother and my sisters rooms as well. The Milburn household has decide to have a flip. Minus Cole, all children will be getting new rooms this means packing! UGH. Since I've come back from college I have meant to clean out my closets and get rid of old stuff so I could make room for all the stuff I brought back with me, but that never happend. Now it's going to! Everything is coming out of my room and getting put in a box to go to my new room, or getting thrown away, OR going into the attic because I like to keep way to many things from my childhood (insert guilty face here). Well this is what out crazy house looks like during this oh so fun process...

My room...

Dylan's Room....

Laney's Room...

WOAH

Talk about a load of crap :) Our rooms are now pretty much empty other than the furniture and that will go this weekend (while I will happily be gone).

Room updates coming soon!!

Baby Shower Time!

So, throwing a baby shower is....interesting to say the least. This is the first baby shower I have ever been a host at, and I didn't even do most of the work. The baby shower was for Tara (Kody's older sister) and was at Lyndi (Kody's oldest sister)'s house. It was such a huge success! Everything turned out so perfect and I'm positive Tara, and little baby Beckley had the time of their life!

My camera died at the beginning of the baby shower so I only got photos of decorations!

The highlights:

I seriously had more fun than I could have imaged and am so happy I got to be apart of it!!!
